Lead the (Human) Way

Here's my latest thoughts on how we can lead the human way. "That's not fair," said the child. "Life isn't fair", says the adult. I'm call bullshit on this phrase. Don't invalidate the person's feelings. Fairness is one of the top four violations that people feel when in crisis (along with trust, safety, and power/control). The violation of fairness occurs when expectations go unmet AND when something bad/unwanted happens as a result. It is our decisions and judgements of the situation that makes it feel fair or unfair. As a leader, it's your job to communicate effectively so your people can determine the decisions/judgements taken were in fact fair. The Challenge is Real

Back in April I did an initial round-up of the PR that had been released in relation to return to office/hybrid/remote first plans. Here's a little update as to where the world is right now according to the press... Office Centricity vs Hybrid vs Remote First Whilst all the PR continues, there are real people behind it.... As such, the commercial benefits can soon... Continue Reading →

New Ways of Living

2016/17 saw a surge in popularity for "New Ways of Working" which ultimately focused on increasing flexibility, home-based working, and desk sharing, which allowed many organisations to right size their property portfolios. For those implementing NWoW, the impacts were far reaching, with reports of: better work life balance, increases in wellbeing and productivity, financial savings... Continue Reading →

H-Y-B-R-I-D

Ok, so we're dreaming of the days where we can have the choice of going to an office again - but definitely not 5 days a week. The pandemic has accelerated the genie escaping from the bottle and hybrid working is the talk of the town. People want the ability to have some structure and... Continue Reading →

New ways of working (or not).

In July I wrote a blog 'A world of pure re-imagination' capturing the evolving nature of the Workplace. 5 months on and I see organisations on a continuum of: the wishful thinkers, the short termers, the seekers and the brave and rebellious. Where Organisations are on this continuum is changing daily (even hourly), across the leadership, across... Continue Reading →

You’ve got this.

When the pandemic hit, like many I was worried about what this meant for the people around me, our sector and my career. There was (and still is) so much click bait, so many 'experts' coming out of the woodwork, yet so many unknowns. Organisations were looking at me for answers. Answers I truly did...
