Hello! To spring into action means to start doing something quickly. This is often in response to a stimulus and after spending time waiting to start. Spring is here, my 2nd favourite season (Autumn just about wins it for me) - but my daffodils are the only thing springing quickly at the moment as I have... Continue Reading →

Why Hybrid isn’t Working (Part 2).
Hello, Following on from part 1 where I covered: definitions, gaps, the employee voice, proximity bias and technology. Here comes a part 2 brief summary, of just why Hybrid isn't working. Issue 6: The post-pandemic hangover Yes the c-word. Individuals, leaders, and organisations are in a strange place right now. I'm not sure any of... Continue Reading →
Why Hybrid isn’t Working (Part 1)
There is a lot of talk about what's going right with Hybrid, and not so much chatter about what's going wrong, never mind how to fix it. So, here we go... Issue 1: We still can't agree on what hybrid even means. Ok, it's no wonder really given the term came from the media, during... Continue Reading →
Hybrid Working: Where are we now?
Hello Fellow Humans, 3 years ago we were unaware of the shit storm that was about to unfold. What a ride it has been and after the period of trauma inducing events; we're certainly scarred and recovering, and will be for sometime - but we're here, and for that I feel relief and gratitude. What... Continue Reading →
Lead the (Human) Way
Here's my latest thoughts on how we can lead the human way. "That's not fair," said the child. "Life isn't fair", says the adult. I'm call bullshit on this phrase. Don't invalidate the person's feelings. Fairness is one of the top four violations that people feel when in crisis (along with trust, safety, and power/control). The violation of fairness occurs when expectations go unmet AND when something bad/unwanted happens as a result. It is our decisions and judgements of the situation that makes it feel fair or unfair. As a leader, it's your job to communicate effectively so your people can determine the decisions/judgements taken were in fact fair. I hope you enjoy the read, and don't forget to hit subscribe to my newsletter "The Human-Centric Workplace". #TheHumanCentricWorkplace #Leadership #Work #TheFutureOfWork #TopTips
Adulting is hard; it’s time to play
Hey Everybody! Today's writing is a bit different. A bit less work related. A bit more me related. When I was a kid, I couldn't wait to grow up. I wanted to go to work, earn money, play football all weekend, play FIFA, stay up late, and eat whatever I wanted. Ok, so I can... Continue Reading →
How to collaborate effectively in the post-pandemic world
Today I want to talk about collaboration. On one hand the pandemic has taught us valuable lessons about why/when/how to collaborate. On another, we still have a long way to go.
What a difference a year makes, or does it?

The work trance: can we escape the vortex?
Why do you work? How many hours do you currently work each week? Are you in a work trance? Is work having a negative impact on your wellbeing, leisure, or family life? What do you want to change about the world of work? Can you escape the vortex? #History #Work
Human connection: The role of the workplace
Hello Everybody, Today I want to talk about human connection, why we need it, how we get it, and the role of the workplace. A few weeks ago, I met up with a group of friends, all ex-colleagues, and it got me thinking if those friendships would exist (4 years on) if it weren't for... Continue Reading →
